Graduated DPHS in 2006. LCPL Reif, Kameron is currently a United States Marine and he is stationed at Camp Lejeune NC.  LCPL Reif, Kameron is in the 2nd  BTN Light Armored Reconnaissance Echo Co.       For Memorial Day he celebrated Fleet Week in Ney York City.  LCPL Reif was standing on the front of the USS Iwo Jima as it passed the statue of Liberty in the Hudson River.  In NY the Marines were greeted with open arms!  I was ill during this time but I tried to watch the news as much as I could.  He had called me that morning to tell me to watch the news, he was standing on the front of the ship as it entered and helicopters and the news was all over.  I flipped channels and got just glimpses of the ship.  I was upset that maybe I had missed a photo of him, and they all look alike, but this was his short week of fame.  I asked some friends from a group called “Freecycle” and many strangers looked for photos of Marines to see if one was my son!  What are the odds?   I showed a photo to my son, and yes he was in the photo!  In fact the photo had been on the cover of the New York Times!  He said “yes Mom that is me, furthest on the right!”      [caption id="attachment_346" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Front Page of The New York Times Furthest Right"][/caption]    We are so proud.  This illness effected and scared him a lot growing up, he still worries about me.  I think it was best that he got to move on away from the stress of me being sick every day.  I do not like to think of it but he will go to Afghanistan, and I am proud of him, and I know he wants to go so I respect that.                         #
